Gentleness at birth: supporting physiological birth

The best possible start for your baby.

Birth is a unique moment. The first minutes, the first looks, the first contact between a baby and its parents are moments of great intensity.

A calm voice. Soft light. A gentle touch. The reassuring presence of a midwife. The baby placed against its mother. A partner who is there, helping and supporting.

At La Roseraie, we give great importance to this environment, which allows birth to unfold with respect for the baby, the mother and their rhythm.

Gentleness at the heart of physiological birth

A physiological birth is one that happens spontaneously, when pregnancy and labour progress normally and do not require any particular medical intervention.

Supporting physiology does not simply mean “doing nothing”.

On the contrary, it means being present, observing, listening, supporting and knowing when to step in if it becomes necessary.

The midwife is with the woman throughout labour, monitors how things are progressing and keeps a close eye on the wellbeing of mother and baby. She can also suggest different ways to ease discomfort: movement, changing position, breathing, massage, warm water or using the birth pool.

The woman leads her own birth, supported by a professional who understands how birth works and knows when the situation calls for different care.

A gentle welcome for the baby

After several months in its mother’s womb, the baby suddenly discovers a new environment: light, sounds, air, sensations. Skin-to-skin contact, closeness to the parents and a calm environment give the newborn time to discover this new world.

These first moments matter for the parents too. They are a chance to look at, touch, smell and meet their baby, sometimes simply in silence.

At La Roseraie, supporting rather than directing

La Roseraie’s philosophy rests on a simple idea: when pregnancy and birth are physiological, a woman has many resources to bring her baby into the world.

The midwife’s role is to support her through this process and to keep her and her baby safe, while respecting her rhythm, her choices and her privacy as much as possible.

Because a birth can be physiological, supported and safe all at once.

And because sometimes, caring begins simply by offering a little more time, a little more listening… and a little more gentleness.
